VR Director of Photography
There’s just something seriously rewarding about capturing memories in immersive video to relive in VR. Since shooting my first 360 videos in 2012, I’ve worked in the capacity of a Director of Photography for clients like Google, the United States Coast Guard, Axon, STRIVR, University of Oregon, Honda, and many others.
I’ve worked with multiple camera systems including custom built rigs, Insta360 Pro 2, Insta360 Titan, Kandao Obsidian R/S, Samsung Round, Canon R5C w/ dual fisheye, and the Meta 3. Google hired my team to test their very first prototypes of the Google JUMP stereoscopic 360 camera system, which was the starting point for the GoPro Odyseey and Yi Halo. Samsung also worked with me to write a series of informative “how to” blogs and their Ultimate Guide to 360 Video Production.
I learned lighting techniques through my experience as a photographer running a 4,000sq foot photography studio in downtown Portland. Immersive scenes, especially in 360, have many of their own challenges when it comes to planning for plates and post production. As an experienced post producer myself, I make informed decisions on set to minimize impact on your post budget. I’m a firm believer that if you can fix it on location - you should!
